New Study Shows South Korea’s Youth is Five Times More Internet-addicted Than Japan’s

A recent study shows young South Koreans’ risk of internet addiction is five-fold that of Japanese students in the same age range.

The study raises concerns about the hyper-connected Asian nation’s propensity for cyber addiction, and its potential health risks.

Researchers at Boramae Medical Center in Seoul based their study on the ‘K-Scale’, Korea’s criterion for measuring internet addiction.  The findings show that 2.2 per cent of Korean students being at risk for internet addiction, as compared to 0.5 per cent of their Japanese peers.
